St. Andrew Catholic Church
Roanoke, Virginia

This fine building is a landmark, seen from the interstate, and referred to as 'the church on the hill.' So, it was quite a challenge when St. Andrew Catholic Church commisioned Dixon Studio to create the stained glass windows for the new addition, over a hundred years after the church was built.

The existing church had Gothic arch windows with traditional figures and scenes; this style was recreated by Dixon Studio for the new Gothic arch entrance window, depicting Andrew and Peter.  However, the requests for designs in other windows in the commons and the new chapel honored tradition but invited a fresh approach, appropriate to the times and to the use of the space.

In addition, the studio created a donor board and seating area in the new entrance way to honor the sponsors of the new addition.
